The COF structure has solder resist covering to protect the circuit wiring patterns. With backlights generally used in flat panel displays (FPDs), light leakage from the backlight and the color of the solder resist can be more noticeable and an issue of concern with the bezel frames becoming narrower on the FPDs.

To prevent this, we have realized mass production of products using black colored solder resist, instead of the common green color.
